Which apps this covers

This policy covers both versions of DocFind: DocFind PDF Keyword Search for Android, on Google Play, and DocFind: Search Inside PDFs for iPhone, on the App Store. Almost everything below is true of both. Where the two genuinely differ, the paragraph is marked Android or iPhone — we would rather label a difference than write a sentence that is only true on one of them.

What we collect

Nothing. DocFind does not collect, transmit, sell, or share personal data of any kind. There is no sign-up, no login, and no user profile. We do not know who you are, and we have no way to find out.

Your documents

DocFind only opens documents you choose yourself, using your device's own system file picker — the Storage Access Framework on Android, the Files picker on iPhone. It has no access to your photo library, contacts, location, microphone, or camera, and never asks for them.

The documents you add, the searchable index DocFind builds from them, and the results of text recognition are all stored on your device only. The index is an ordinary database in the app's own private storage: it holds the text extracted from each page, the positions of recognized words, and which documents belong to which library, so that a repeat search does not have to read every file again. Your recent search terms are kept there too — the last ten. None of it leaves the device, and deleting a document from a library, or deleting the app, removes it.

Text recognition (OCR)

When you ask DocFind to make a scanned document searchable, the text recognition runs entirely on your own device. Page images are never sent anywhere, and no third party receives them.

Android Recognition uses Google's ML Kit text recognition, bundled inside the app rather than downloaded, so it works with no internet connection.

iPhone Recognition uses Apple's on-device Vision framework.

Reading a scanned document is something you start yourself. Nothing is recognized until you ask for it.

Exports and sharing

DocFind can export search results as CSV, Markdown, a PDF report, or a PDF of the matching pages. Exported files are created on your device. They leave it only if you deliberately send them somewhere — by saving the file where you choose, or by handing it to another app through the system share sheet. DocFind never sends them on its own.

Purchases

DocFind Pro is an in-app purchase, handled entirely by the store you bought it from. The store processes the payment; we never see your name, your payment details, or your store account. We receive no personal information from a purchase, and restoring one is handled by the store as well.

Android Purchases go through Google Play Billing. Because of that, the Android app does have permission to use the network, and it uses it for exactly one thing: asking Google Play for the current prices and for whether you own Pro. Searching, indexing, text recognition and exporting all work with no connection at all — your documents are not part of that conversation, and never travel over it. Google's own handling of a payment is described in Google's privacy policy.

iPhone Purchases go through the App Store. The iPhone app is built with no network capability whatsoever.

Analytics, tracking and advertising

There are none. DocFind contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no tracking of any kind.

Android The app requests no advertising ID and shows no ads. Earlier versions of the Android app (up to version 1.2) did show ads; version 2.0 removed advertising entirely, and this policy describes version 2.0 onwards.

iPhone The app does not show the App Tracking Transparency prompt, because it has nothing to ask for.

Children

DocFind is rated for all ages — 3+ on Google Play, 4+ on the App Store. Because it collects no data at all, it collects no data from children.

Your rights

Regulations such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, or delete the personal data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to disclose or delete. All of your DocFind data lives on your own device and is under your direct control.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date. If a future version of DocFind ever added a feature that collected data, that change would be described here before the feature shipped.

Permissions

Android The app declares four permissions and no others: internet access and network state, both used only for Google Play Billing as described above; the Google Play billing permission itself; and one internal permission Android requires for an app's own private broadcasts. It requests no storage permission — files reach DocFind only through the system picker you use to choose them.

iPhone The app requests no permissions at all. Documents arrive through the Files picker, and nothing else is asked for.
